Election Observers

Husker Vote Coalition is partnering with Civic Nebraska and Common Cause Nebraska in recruiting volunteers to serve as nonpartisan election observers for the May 6, 2025 election in Lincoln, Nebraska and the May 13, 2025 election in Omaha, Nebraska.

As part of their observations, election observers gather information and chronicle data regarding how elections are run from county to county in our state. They also record any irregularities or different treatment of voters. Volunteers will also confirm that polling places are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Election observers must be at least 18 and live in Nebraska and be registered to vote in Nebraska. After registering, you will receive a link to a self-paced training video that provides all the necessary information before you head out to observe.

Sign up to volunteer.

Election observers spend four hours on election day monitoring a polling site. Shifts are 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.;  12 to 4 p.m.; and  4 to 8 p.m. Roving routes have three locations to visit during a 4-hour shift.

Civic Nebraska uses the information that is gathered to build a post-election report, which is shared with county election officials, state election officials, and the public to identify areas of success and improvement. This report also informs future legislative initiatives that can improve Nebraska voters’ experiences.
