Why Have a Retreat?
Retreats and workshops allow RSOs to step away from daily distractions to focus on organizational and individual growth. Effective planning leads to smoother operations.
Key Planning Steps:

2. Identify Participants
New Officers, Executive Board, All Members, etc.
3. Choose a Location
- On-Campus vs. Off-Campus: Consider convenience, accessibility, and cost.
- Off-Campus Options: Nearby summer camps may offer affordable rates. The SLICE office has contact information for retreat locations.
4. Plan Transportation
Ensure safe and reliable transportation for off-campus events.
5. Select a Format
- Workshops: Expert-led sessions on advertising, program planning, public speaking, fundraising, etc.
- Experiential Activities: Team building, brainstorming, communication exercises, ropes courses, etc.
- Recreational Activities: Skiing, hiking, canoeing, biking, climbing, etc.
6. Choose Facilitators & Presenters
Organization Officers, Members, RSO Advisor, Faculty, and SLICE Staff.
7. Organize Committees
Engage members in planning to ensure investment in the retreat. Suggested committees: Transportation, Food/Drink, Lodging, Recreation, Programming, and Clean-Up.
8. Use Available Resources

9. Evaluate the Retreat
