Providing grant funds for student-led projects directed toward improving overall environmental sustainability on the university campus.
Up to $10,000 is awarded annually.

Project Ideas
There are no restrictions on the types of projects nor the amount of grant funds that a project can apply for.
A few broad ideas that would be considered for funding (but not limited to):
Sustainability competitions
Campus community garden
Native plant garden
Gardening/healthy eating workshops
Rooftop bee hive/pollination project
Campus waste audit
Model sustainable dorm room
Local food stand/store
Water bottle refill station
Bicycle pump/fixing stations
Bike racks
Rainwater recapture
Composting initiatives
Solar phone/laptop charging station
Outdoor recycling bins
Recycling for ink cartridges and batteries
Green conference, program, or speaker
Documentary screening
Reusable to-go containers for dining halls
Criteria + Application
Must be a Recognized Student Organization (RSO) that is in compliance with the Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement office.
Must have a clearly defined, measurable outcome.
Must incorporate publicity, education, or outreach.
Must be willing to display the logo of ASUN Student Government on all marketing and communication materials, if the project is awarded funding.
The project must take place on the UNL campus
Applications are evaluated on:
- environmental benefit
- impact to campus
- benefit to students
- budget / use of funds
Timeline / Process
Application is open annually from August 1 to March 1.
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Funding is first come first served.
All expenses must be reported prior to June 1.
Selection
The ASUN Grant Selections Committee is comprised of seven students elected by the student body who provide the overall direction for grants offered by ASUN Student Government.
Before starting an application, gather and prepare these items:
- short abstract
- approval from the RSO Advisor
- a detailed budget
