Rock for Respect!: A Benefit Concert for Voices of Hope

The Bay – 2005 Y St. Lincoln, NE 68503
Join us as we kick off our annual Week Without Violence events with a benefit concert for Voices of Hope! Voices of Hope is a Lincoln non-profit that helps victims of sexual assault and relationship violence through counseling, medical and legal advocacy, and a 24-hour crisis line. This event is cosponsored by UNL PREVENT, Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority Inc., UNL PanHellenic Council. Entrance to the concert is free but donations are welcome! We will be hosting a raffle with items donated by local Lincoln businesses! Raffle tickets will be 1 ticket for $2, 3 tickets for $5 and all proceeds will go to Voices of Hope.

Safe Quarters

Join Lincoln volunteers who canvas the city and gather donations for Friendship Home, Lincoln’s agency providing shelter and advocacy for women and their children. Contact the Women’s Center Volunteer Coordinator at wcvolunteers@unl.edu for more information about joining the Women’s Center team or email laurenp@friendshiphome.org to create your own team.

Take Back The Night Balloon Release and Candlelight Vigil

Stand up against domestic violence and sexual assault by joining Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. in this balloon release followed by a moment of silence to honor those affected by these issues.

Join the UNL Women’s Center and the Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services (OASIS) in the OASIS Lounge for an open discussion about violence in communities of color. Pepsi products will be provided. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Addressing Anti-Trans Violence

Attend the Ethics Center panel discussion and brown bag lunch event hosted by the Kutak Ethics Center and the LGBTQA+ Resource Center. The panel will focus on violence that is experienced by the transgender community.
