October 2016: Raise Your Voice for LGBTQA+ Equality!

LGBTQA+ History Month is observed annually in October to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Asexual community and those who support, nurture, and advocate for us. 2016 History Month Activities

The 14 th Annual History Month Dinner will take place at:
The Cornhusker Hotel Main Ballroom on Thursday, October 6, 2016. There is a pre-dinner social sponsored by OUTLinc at 5:00pm, seating starts at 6:00pm (a great time to purchase tickets for our prize drawings!); and the program begins at 6:30 pm. We will recognize the 4th Recipient of the Be-ing the Change Award (Kelly Erisman, posthumously) and Jericho Brown will be our keynote speaker. The River City Mixed Chorus will sing for us again and Vince Learned will provide piano music before the program starts. There is some on street (metered) parking and a parking garage on the west side of the hotel. We hope you can join us!

Ads must be submitted by September 2nd.
Individual Ticket purchases and Scholarship Requests must be submitted by September 19th.

Program ads can be purchased with or without dinner attendance using the same form. Ad prices are discounted with purchase of a table. Raffle donations are also accepted. We appreciate your support! Individual tickets may be purchased in the Student Organization Financial Services Office (SOFS). The SOFS office is located in Nebrasaka Union 200. You can contact Jeff Rech at 402.472.5668. There will be a small charge to cover the cost of credit card purchases.


History Month Events:

September 29: How to do Drag Workshop, NU, 6 pm!

October 5: Poet and Author Jericho Brown Reading, NU Colonial Room, 7 pm. Dr. Brown will also be our Keynote Speaker at the dinner!!

October 6: History Month Dinner @ The Cornhusker Hotel!

The River City Mixed Chorus will perform and the 4th Annual Be-ing the Change Award will be presented !

October 13: David Ebershoff talk – 3:30pm – Great Plains Art Museum!

October 13: Sue Kim Talk – 5:30pm – Sheldon Museum of Art!

October 28: Night of the Living Drag Show! NU Centennial Room, 8 pm!
