October 2017: Elements of Change!


LGBTQA+ History Month is observed annually in October to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Asexual community and those who support, nurture, and advocate for us. The Director of the Center developed and updates (as she is able) a UNL and Lincoln history timeline. If you have historical information related to the LGBTQA+ Community at UNL, please email lgbtqa@unl.edu.


2017 History Month Activities


The 15 th Annual LGBTQA+ History Month Dinner will take place at The Cornhusker Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom, 333 South 13 th Street, Lincoln, NE on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Doors will open at 5:30 pm, and the program begins at 6 pm.

Raffle Tickets will be sold prior to the start of the program and prior to the drawings.



We hope you can join us!

We will recognize the recipients of the 5th Annual Be-ing the Change Award (State Senators Adam Morfeld, and Patty Pansing Brooks; and PFLAG Lincoln).

Our keynote speaker will be Ryan Sallans, LGBTQ Speaker, Consultant, Publisher and Author.

We are pleased that the River City Mixed Chorus will also perform for us again this year and Vince Learned will provide piano music before the program starts.

Parking: There is some on street (metered) parking (plug until 6 pm) and a parking garage on the west side of the hotel.

Ads must be submitted by September 7th.
Individual Ticket purchases and Scholarship Requests submitted by October 2nd.

Program ads can be purchased with or without dinner attendance using the same form. Ad prices are discounted with purchase of a table. Raffle donations are also accepted. We appreciate your support! Individual tickets may be purchased in the Student Organization Financial Services Office (SOFS). The SOFS office is located in Nebraska Union 200. You can contact Jeff Rech at 402.472.5668. There will be a small charge to cover the cost of Ncard and credit card purchases.
