Information Strategies: Graphic Design

Real World Experience

Graphic Design majors gain real world experience working for Student Involvement Information Strategies (SIIS). As a student-staffed design, marketing, and web development agency, SIIS meets a wide range of marketing and communication needs for Student Involvement, the Nebraska Unions, and other major campus events such as Big Red Welcome and The Big Event.

Student designerswork on actual campaigns for our clients from ideation to final production. Graphic Design students work on projects from start to finish, presenting clients with a few concepts from which to develop final pieces.

Real World Tools

Our lab is equiped with 24" iMacs, a color laser printer, Wacom tablets, the latest Adobe Creative Suite, and iLife. Students work at their own stations complete with Herman Miller chairs.

Real World Support

Starla Stensaas serves as the Creative Director for SIIS, providing one-on-one creative support, critique, and professional development for the graphic design staff. Starla holds an M.F.A. in graphic design and is a former tenured associate professor of design.

Real World Portfolios

Check out our Showcase for examples of SIIS student work. University of Nebraska-Lincoln alumni can attest to the value of the portfolios they developed as SIIS employees. If you are working towards a career in graphic design, advertising or marketing, and you're ready to get to work, apply!
