Getting involved at UNL is easy! There are wonderful opportunities to share your time and talents and to learn valuable skills such as leadership, time management, program planning and much more.
Resource Center Volunteers
LGBTQA Programs, Services & Resource Center Volunteers are supporters and volunteers who help staff the center, assist with program planning and implementation, staff booths and otherwise help or serve the UNL LGBTQA community.

What Do Volunteers Do?
The LGBTQA Resource Center Volunteers
- Donate their time to learn relevant information so they can be a change agent on campus
- Volunteer on at least one committee that aims to improve the UNL campus in one way or another. Examples include the Be the Change Commitee, History Month Committee, Outreach, etc.
- Staff the LGBTQA Resource Center, publicity booths, and programming
- And... most importantly, work to make UNL a more welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.
Peer Health Education (for LGBTQA Educators)

This section for Peer LGBTQA Educators is a one hour elective for students interested in being Queerteers (volunteers) at the LGBTQA Resource Center and/or are interested in learning about and helping with LGBTQA Programs, Services & the Resource Center. The class will help provide a foundation for knowledge, skill and leadership development as it relates to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and education, outreach, programming, and advocacy on campus.

Campus Organizations
Queer Ally Coalition: LGBTQA Student Organization
Open to all UNL students, the office is located in the Nebraska Union, room 234. The office is staffed by student volunteers; provides a safe, informal gathering space; information about services, events, and current LGBTQA periodicals. Meetings are held during the academic year. UNL Committee on GLBT Concerns
Consisting of GLBTA students, faculty, and staff striving to create a campus environment supportive of GLBT people. We support the UNL non-discrimination policy and work to make it a reality; meeting bi-weekly throughout the academic year. Progressive Student Coalition
The Progressive Student Coalition (PSC) is a coalition of students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln dedicated to social justice, equal access and opportunity, environmental sustainability, and community and youth capacity building. The PSC facilitates dialogue among progressive student groups and assists them to craft strategic campaigns that envision a broad, diverse, and interconnected progressive movement. Allies & Advocates for GLBT Equality at the Law College
The purpose of Allies & Advocates for GLBT Equality is to provide education on GLBT issues. Their activities include bringing in speakers and facilitating social events. Students for Sexual Health promote accurate, inclusive and comprehensive sex education at UNL and in the Lincoln community through programming, outreach and education.

PFLAG Cornhusker
PFLAG (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is a national non-profit organization with a membership of over 80,000 households and more than 440 affiliates worldwide. This vast grassroots network is developed, resourced and serviced by the PFLAG national office, located in Washington, DC, the national Board of Directors and the Regional Directors' Council. LGBTQ Reading Group
A book club in Lincoln that reads literature with LGBTQ issues or themes. Meetints are on the first Saturday of each month at 1 pm at Indigo Bridge, located in the Haymarket in Lincoln. Check out the LGBTQ Reading Group Facebook page for the book of the month.

Transmasculine Support Group
Planned Parenthood of the Heartland will offer a Transmasculine Support Group for individuals that identify with a nontraditional masculine sense of self. This may include but is not limited to genderqueer, gender conforming, gender rebel, two-spirited, and femaile to male (FTM) individuals. The group will meet monthly beginning October 1st, 2011.
