Campus NightLife: Advisory Board By-laws and Structure
ARTICLE I
The name of this organization shall be the Campus Night Life Advisory Board, hereinafter CNL.
ARTICLE II
The mission of Campus Night Life is to provide a safe variety of on-campus activities that reach out to all University of Nebraska-Lincoln student communities and foster campus wide inclusiveness. Campus Night Life strives to provide consistent entertainment that recognizes and caters to the diverse UNL student population.
ARTICLE III
Members
Section 1. Non-discrimination. CNL advisory board shall not discriminate in the selection of members or appointments when discrimination is defined as denying individuals membership or appointment on the basis of gender, age, disability, race, color, religion, marital status, veteran’s status, national or ethnic origin, gender identity or expression, place of residence, or sexual orientation.
Section 2. Membership. CNL advisory board will be comprised of two delegates from each of the following organizations: Association of Students at the University of Nebraska (ASUN), African People’s Union (APU), University Program Council (UPC), Residence Hall Association (RHA), International Student Organization (ISO), Panhellenic, Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC), Campus Recreation Advisory Board, Athletic Department, Husker Choices, National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), Union Board, and two students at-large. Each organization will be responsible for selecting their delegates and the students at-large shall be approved by the CNL advisory board advisor. Organization advisors are encouraged to support and attend CNL advisory board meetings with their delegates. One delegate will serve as a senior delegate (preferably with CNL advisory board experience). The senior delegate will choose a junior delegate who is not yet entering their final year of education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to serve a two-year term (one as a junior delegate and the next as a senior delegate).
Section 3. Voting. Voting privileges will only be granted to organizations with consistent representation at CNL advisory board meetings. Attendance will be taken at weekly meetings. If a delegate cannot attend, it is the organization’s responsibility to send a proxy. More than 2 absences will result in the organization losing voting privileges for the remainder of the semester.
Section 4. Revocation. Membership may be revoked in the event that any represented RSO is not in compliance with University Regulations.
Section 5. Resignation. Represented RSO’s or members may resign from CNL advisory board by providing the advisor with written notice.
ARTICLE IV
Meetings
Section 1. Regular meetings. Regular meetings shall be held bi-weekly. A schedule of meetings will be provided to membership.
Section 2. Special meetings. Special meetings may be called by the advisor or graduate assistant to CNL advisory board. The purpose of the meeting shall be stated in the call. Except in case of emergency, at least 24 hours notice shall be given. Electronic communication may be used as notice.
Section 3. Facilitator. The meeting shall be facilitated by the advisor or graduate assistant to the CNL advisory board.
ARTICLE V
Committees
Section 1. Standing Committees. Standing committees shall consist of Finance, Public Relations, and Sponsorships.
Section 2. Membership of Committees. Each advisory board member will be expected to serve on at least one standing committee and committees will be chaired by senior delegates. As a committee chairs position becomes available, the CNL advisory board will take nominations and each candidate will be allowed two minutes for a speech (only the speech-making nominee will be present). The election will then take place by a blind vote, majority votes will win.
Section 3. Creation and membership. Special committees shall be created as CNL advisory board deems necessary. Advisory board delegates will serve as committee chairs and can serve as committee members by voluntary action. Volunteers who are not members of CNL advisory board may serve as special committee members as chosen by the special committee chair upon approval of the Campus Night Life advisory board.
ARTICLE VI
Advisor
CNL advisory board shall have one primary advisor, the associate director of student involvement, and one secondary advisor, the graduate assistant to campus night life.
ARTICLE VII
Finance
Funding for CNL will be primarily from the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, student involvement, and support as needed from member organizations and RSO collaboration.
ARTICLE VIII
Amendment
These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the CNL advisory board provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous regular meeting.
ARTICLE IX
Effective Date
These bylaws shall go into effect.
