These events are not sponsored by Student Involvement and your volunteer hours for these activities will not be logged in the Student Involvement database. A Volunteer Opportunity that’s fun! Thursday – Saturday, October 23-25. Volunteers needed for parking, trail walkers, hike leaders, popcorn and cider servers. Help out at a unique, nature-oriented Halloween event for families.

Ongoing Christ for the City International

Food Preparation and Child Care: We are looking for volunteers to provide food for about 14 adults and 3 small children; in addition we are looking for childcare for these three children on Monday night’s through Dec. 15th. At Calvary United Methodist Church, 1610 S. 11th St.

Ongoing Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers/Big Sister-Community Based: Community-Based Mentoring is the traditional Big Brothers Big Sisters relationship. It’s all about one-on-one time spent with the volunteer and the young person doing things they enjoy.
Big Brother/Big Sister-site Based: Volunteers are needed to meet weekly at schools and Community Learning Centers. Biggs and Little’s meet once a week in schools, libraries and community centers, to talk and have fun. It’s not about being a tutor it’s about being a friend.
Building Our Assets Together: Are you able to help us out? We need mentors who can meet weekly for one year to develop friendship with children who have an incarcerated parent. The children are between the ages of 7 through 15.

On-going Office of Women’s and Men’s Health

Board Member for Every Woman Matters Breast & Cervical Advisory Committee: This committee is responsible for sharing information on the Every Woman Matters Program, and fundraising for the Every Woman Matters Foundation.

Clerical Support Assistant: Provide clerical support for office staff. Duties include: data entry typing, filing, sorting & collating, assisting with mailing project & bulk mailings, photocopying.

News Editor: We need someone with time and ability to post fliers of missing children, missing child news and amber alert information in a timely manner using our 3 email lists. This can be done from any computer with Internet access

Ongoing Arc of Lincoln/Lancaster County

The Arc Thrift Store Volunteer: We are looking for individuals or a group of volunteers to assist at The Arc Thrift Store at 2620 "O" Street. They will sort donations, hangers, place clothes on hangers, tag merchandise with price tags, straighten displays, racks of garments and assist cashier with bagging purchases.

Ongoing Community Blood Bank of the Lancaster County Medical Society

Blood Drive Donor Café Host/Hostess: We need Volunteers to agree to travel to area high schools, colleges and businesses to assist in the donor café. Tasks include offering juice, water, cookies and snacks to volunteer blood donors who have just donated and a variety of other duties.

On-going Mourning Hope

Support Group Facilitator: We are seeking volunteers to facilitate grief support groups, provide office support, assist with special events and serve as community speakers, kitchen helpers, sewing assistants, home handymen and artists.

*Homemaker, Children’s Grief Center: Volunteer will be doing light housekeeping and occasional clerical work. Provide a peaceful and welcoming environment for grieving youth and their families.

Ongoing Rebuilding Together Lincoln

“Green Team” Volunteer: Seeking members for volunteer team that will visit low income homeowners to conduct an "energy audit" to analyze energy efficiency options. Volunteer will make repairs resulting in cost savings and reductions with their utilities. Training will be provided.

Children Advocate Volunteer: Do you enjoy spending time with children we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you. Help facilitate a support group for children over the age of five, and provide childcare for children under five.

Handy Helper: Bring your tools, talent, and ladder. Come help our Facilities Coordinator keep Friendship Home neat and tidy.

Oct. 13-18 Foundation for Lincoln City Libraries

Book Sale Volunteer: On October 13-18 2008, we are in need of volunteers to help setup, run cash register, and assist customers. Flexible hours

October 13-15, any hours between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: 5-10 volunteers needed for setup (organize tables, lift boxes, post signs, sort books)
October 16, noon-8 pm: minimum 20 needed per shift for customer assistance, cashier, carry-out assistance
October 17, 10 am-6 pm: 13 needed per shift for customer assistance, cashier, carry-out assistance
October 18, 10 am-6 pm: 10 needed per shift for customer assistance, cashier, carry-out assistance
October 18, evening (6 pm until done): 10 strong volunteers needed for clean-up and tear-down

Volunteers will be scheduled in two-hour shifts; volunteers are welcome and encouraged to work multiple shifts.
